Lifesaving

Jan Juc Beach is patrolled by volunteer lifesavers and paid lifeguards throughout the summer. Volunteer lifesavers are trained and provided by Jan Juc SLSC. Paid lifeguards are trained by Life Saving Victoria and provided by the the Surf Coast Shire.

All rescue and first aid equipment, as well as the training of all volunteer lifesavers is provided by Jan Juc SLSC. To raise funds for these services the Club runs fundraising events such as Grand Final Eve Lunch, Golf Classic, Bells Bash Cliff Run, Danger Ocean Swim Series, Annual Door Knock and Intersection Collections.

Fundraising, sponsorship and community support ensures there are enough qualified lifesavers to patrol the beach over the summer months.

Active Patrolling Members must have a current Surf Rescue Certificate, Bronze Medallion, Radio Operators Certificate or Senior First Aid Certificate. The training for these awards, give instruction in surf awareness, surf skills, rescue techniques, first aid, resuscitation, radio operation and powercraft operation. Check out the Training Courses page under Development for more information on current and upcoming courses.

Remember to always SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS at a patrolled beach.
