Location: The Danger 500, Danger 1000, More Dangerous 2.5km, and Even More Dangerous 5km Ocean Swims are held inside Point Danger (a.k.a. Cosy Corner) at the Torquay front beach, The  registration / bag collection tent is located on the beach side, grassed area at the corner of The Esplanade and Price Street, Torquay, https://goo.gl/maps/DnWxgDf7YZ63JmJG9.

Events: 500m, 1km, 2.5km & 5km open ocean swim events.

Danger 500 Swim – a great opportunity for junior competitors and beginners to ocean swimming to test their skill and fitness. The safe swimming course is a shortened version of the Danger 1000 course.

• Enrants can ONLY compete in their age category (10-17 or 18+)
• First race commences at 10:30am
• 25 minute time limit

Danger 1000 Swim – our popular, signature swim attracts competitors of all ages and abilities.

• Enrants can compete in their age category (12-14, 15-17, 18-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+) and/or the Open category
• First race commences at 11:30am
• 60 minute time limit

More Dangerous 2.5km Swim – starting the day, alongside the Even More Dangerous 5km Swim, the distance adds a challenge for the more competent swimmer.  

• ONLY one age category for all entrants (12+)
• Entrants cannot compete in this swim and the Even More Dangerous 5km swim
• First race commences at 9:00am
• 90 minute time limit, subject to conditions

Even More Dangerous 5km Swim – this swim is for those who want an even greater challenge – it encompasses 2 loops of the More Dangerous 2.5km course.

• ONLY one age category for all entrants (13+)
• Entrants cannot compete in this swim and the More Dangerous 2.5km swim
• First race commences at 9:00am
• 120 minute time limit, subject to conditions

Swimmers are encouraged to take part in one, two or three events.

The More Dangerous 2.5km Swim is part of the

  ​  Great Victorian Swim Series (GVSS).

Multi Event Discount: there is a discount for each additional event per entrant. 

Early bird entries close 11pm Sunday 9th January, 2022.  Final entries close 11pm Friday 14th January, 2022.

GVSS members receive an additional $5 discount.

Swimmers information: Danger Ocean Swim Notes, including course maps, cap colours and age group start times, will be available in December.  Note that staggered start times may vary depending on the number of entrants in each category and conditions on the day.  Category starts may be combined depending on the number of entrants in each category and conditions on the day.  The Danger 1000 Open category (incorporating age groups 18-29 yrs) is the last event start.  Entrants outside ages 18-29 years are welcome to compete in their own age group and/or the Open category.

Registration: The registration tents are located on The Esplanade opposite Price Street and open from 7:30am and close at 1:10pm (10 minutes prior to the start of the last event) on the morning of the swim for swimmers to receive their event bag with t-shirt, timing tag and swim instructions.

Jan Juc SLSC’s major fundraising events

This event is an important fund-raising event for the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club and all money raised helps keep volunteer patrols on the beach at Jan Juc, keeping community and visitors safe. Obtaining your and the community’s continued support for this event is vital to the 100% volunteer service.
